Boxing Insider Promotions closed out 2023 with their second annual Holiday Fight Night — a sensational six-fight card at Sony Hall. The evening delivered a fight of the year contender in the main event, three stoppages, a pro debut knockout, and an upset, capping the promotion’s busiest year yet as New York State’s most active promoter with six events.
MAIN EVENT
Tsendbaatar “Chinggis Khaan” Erdenebat (8-0, 4 KOs) def. Yohan “La Fiera” Vasquez (25-5, 20 KOs)
Junior Lightweight — 8 Rounds
Result: TKO Round 8 (body shot)
Fight of the year contender. This was high-calibre action — no major titles at stake, but the kind of war that makes club boxing great. Vasquez started strong, dominating the early rounds and landing with power and precision on the two-time Olympian from Mongolia. Erdenebat, the southpaw, turned the tide through disciplined use of his jab, and soon it was the Mongolian landing with authority. The fight became a battle of attrition until the eighth, when a left uppercut to the midsection bent Vasquez over and a follow-up combination dropped him to a knee. Referee Jamil Antoine waved it off immediately, recognizing the accumulated punishment. “I came into the fight knowing I have better skills in all areas,” Erdenebat said. Lou DiBella added: “Tsendy has ‘it’ factor. He rumbles, takes chances, and entertains.”
CO-FEATURE
Fernely Feliz Jr. (W) def. Raphael Carolina (L)
Heavyweight — 6 Rounds
Result: TKO Round 6 (overhand right)
Feliz ground Carolina down over six rounds. Both men fought cautiously early before Feliz took control in the third. A huge right dropped Carolina in the fourth — he got up but was clearly outgunned from that point forward. Feliz continued to grind away in the fifth before a short overhand right ended matters in the sixth, sending Carolina down for good.
Cesar “Rainman” Francis (W) def. Windry “La Pesadilla” Amadis Martinez (L)
Junior Middleweight — 6 Rounds
Result: TKO Round 2
Francis made it look easy. His height and jab told the story in the first round, and he battered and stopped Martinez in the second. “I didn’t want a soft opponent,” Francis said afterward. “I brought the people out.”
Yeuri Andujar (6-6-1, 4 KOs) def. Christian “Veneno” Otero (6-5)
Junior Lightweight — 4 Rounds
Result: TKO Round 4 (upset)
Otero employed his jab well in the first and was putting his punches together nicely in the second — until he was suddenly dropped by Andujar. Otero survived the round, but Andujar’s punches clearly had the better effect from that point on, and he stopped Otero in the fourth.
Jacob Riley Solis (1-0, 1 KO) def. Tevin Terrance (1-1)
Middleweight — 4 Rounds
Result: KO Round 3 (pro debut)
Solis made his professional debut in front of a raucous home crowd. Terrance, despite being the opponent, managed to drop Solis in the first round — though Solis later insisted he had slipped, calling the knockdown “bullshit.” Solis recovered well, peppering Terrance with jabs in the third before two beautiful right hands put Terrance down and out. “All my people are here,” Solis told the crowd.
Arveontae Dukes (W) def. Beni Beguy (L)
Result: Unanimous Decision
Dukes earned the decision over Beguy to open the card.
