Battle of Unbeatens Farah Ennis vs. Alexander Johnson Headlines Boxing Event this Saturday night
at Bally’s Atlantic City!

ATLANTIC CITY (March 29, 2011)— Undefeated NABF super middleweight champ Farah Ennis (17-0, 11 KO) of Philadelphia, PA is ready for the biggest test of his career this Saturday night when he faces fellow unbeaten challenger Alexander Johnson (10-0, 4 KO) of Oxon Hill, MD in a ten-round non-title matchup at Bally’s Atlantic City.

The show will be promoted by Pound for Pound Promotions.

Both Ennis, 28, and Johnson, 29, are coming off big knockout wins, with Ennis stopping Victor Lares in seven rounds to win the NABF belt in Atlantic City last November, while Johnson knocked out Andre Espeut in two rounds just days earlier.

“I want to put on a show and let the boxing world know what I’m all about,” said Ennis. “I’ve fought undefeated guys before and it doesn’t intimidate me. I’m in shape and ready to go.”

“A win here will take Farah to the next level,” said Moz Gonzalez, Ennis’ manager. “We’re trying to keep him busy, and after this we want the big fights.”

Ennis didn’t have a big amateur career but has progressed swiftly in only five years as a professional by carrying on the Philly tradition of hard work in the boxing gym.

The soft-spoken “Quiet Storm” Ennis is working with a conditioning coach for the first time, which he feels will enhance his already top notch stamina and punching power.

In an exciting co-featured bout, lights out knockout puncher Amir Mansour (12-0, 9 KO) of Wilmington, DE will look to add another big KO to his record when he faces “Hurricane” Hector Ferreyro (21-9-2, 12 KO) of Laredo, TX in an eight round bout.

Mansour is a southpaw power-puncher with a bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies. Ferreyro’s biggest win came in 2007 when he upset 26-0 heavyweight contender Leo Nolan.

Also in the heavyweight division, veteran Damian Wills (29-2-1, 22 KO) of Los Angeles, CA will face Arron Lyons (12-9-1, 9 KO) of Las Cruces, NM in an eight round bout. The 31-year-old Wills is looking to make a move in the division, having won seven in a row since losing to top-rated heavyweight contender Chris Arreola and Kevin Johnson.

The 29-year-old Lyons is no lame duck, having knocked out 16-1 heavyweight prospect Lenroy Thomas in his most recent match and holds a first round knockout of then 9-0 prospect Joey Abell.

Also featured will be Bayonne, New Jersey’s favorite son Bobby Rooney Jr. (11-3-1, 6 KOs) returning to the ring for the first time since 2009 to face Walter Foster (4-3-1, 4 KOs) of Berkeley, Missouri. Rooney, who runs the Bayonne PAL boxing program, is scheduled to fight six rounds.

The general public is perhaps better acquainted with his team captain – internationally known entertainer Beetlejuice – who is a staple at all of Rooney’s fights.

Former three time Daily News Golden Gloves champ and National Golden Gloves champ Steven Martinez (8-0, 7 KO) will also be in action in a four-round junior middleweight matchup against an opponent to be named later.

The rest of the card will be comprised of top young talent including bantamweight Victor “The Viper” Valenzuela (8-1,1 KO) of Passaic, NJ; lightweight Chris Green (4-2, 1 KO) of Asbury Park, NJ; junior-middleweight Thomas Lamanna (1-0, 1 KO); and light-heavyweight “The Bull” Anthony Caputo-Smith (9-0, 7 KO) of Kennett Square, PA.
