Heriberto Ruiz Vows To Shame Rey Bautista

Mexican boxer Heriberto Ruiz warned that Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista is in for a big humiliation when they cross path anew for the Pinoy Pride 6:Grudge Rematch slated June 11 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

Inspired by his previous victory against Bautista, Ruiz is hoping that lightning will strike twice, but this time, beating the Boholano boxer will be more damaging.

“I will beat him in front of his countrymen,” said Ruiz in a statement released to ALA Promotions.

Ruiz inflicted Bautista’s second career loss via a unanimous decision in their first meeting last Nov. 22, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The first encounter served as an under card of the Ricky Hatton-Paulie Malignaggi bout.

Ruiz said he will be doing nothing special in his bid for another victory against Bautista, saying he would just do the things that disgraced Bautista in their first fight.

“My strategy will be similar with what I did when I beat him in Las Vegas,” said Ruiz (46W-10L-28KO’s-2D), who did a remarkable job of counter-punching in beating Bautista the last time out.

While Ruiz enjoys a psychological edge in the upcoming fight, the second meeting between the two fighters could yield different result.

Ruiz will be facing a healthier Bautista (30W-2L-23KO’s), who has fully recovered from a wrist injury that hounded him in their first meeting.

It was only after the fight that it was found out that Bautista had a fractured in his left wrist. The injury bothered Bautista since his left hand is his most potent weapon.

Having a healthy wrist augurs well for Bautista as he looks to exact revenge against Ruiz in the fight presented by ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN
