Klitschko 246.9, Wach 249.1: Heavyweight Giants Ripped and Ready in Hamburg

World heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko of Ukraine and undefeated Polish challenger Mariusz Wach both looked in fine shape today as they weighed in for their battle tomorrow night in Hamburg, Germany, in front of a raucous crowd.

Klitschko tipped the scales at 246.9 pounds, while Wach weighed in at 249.1.

After the weigh-in, the fighters engaged in yet another lengthy stare-down, following the intense exchange they had earlier this week at the final presser for the fight.

It seems clear from the champion’s demeanor that, perhaps unlike his last two opponents (Jean-Marc Mormeck and Tony Thompson), he regards the younger, larger Pole as a true threat to his heavyweight crown.

This will be the first fight during the champion’s current unbeaten run of eight years without the services of iconic trainer Emanuel Steward, who recently passed away.
