Is The Money Team Falling Apart?

by Johnny Walker

Rumors are flying hot and heavy that the joint venture into boxing promotion called TMT (The Money Team), headed up by pound-for-pound boxing king Floyd Mayweather Jr. and rapper 50 Cent, is already kaput.

The Ring magazine reports that Australian featherweight fighter Billy Dib, recently signed by TMT, has had his contract folded into the operations of the still operating Mayweather Promotions. The Ring also says that a source close to the rap superstar indicates that 50 Cent is “no longer involved in boxing.”

50 Cent: already finished as a boxing promoter?

As we reported earlier this week, there were signs of trouble in paradise when “Fiddy” took to the radio airwaves to report on his deteriorating relationship with Mayweather since the boxer emerged from jail after serving out a sentence for domestic assault.

“He has .. there’s a different side of Floyd coming out of the pen, that’s all,” said 50.

It really comes from him … everybody around Floyd is waiting on the next time he feels generous.

“And I have a lot, so I don’t wait for nobody.

“It puts us in an interesting space sometimes, because I will go do what I gotta do. I don’t have to sit around and wait for the next time he feels like giving somebody something.”

50 Cent, whose birth name is Curtis Jackson, also denied having an affair with Mayweather’s girlfriend while the boxer was imprisoned.

So far, it is not known what will happen with other recent TMT signings like Andre Dirrell and Yuriorkis Gamboa.

Boxing Insider will update this story as facts become available.
