Pauly Malignaggi is not here to play the role of the handpicked opponent for the future legend golden boy Amir Khan.
Personal remarks by the American to Khan at Friday’s weigh-in apparently touched a nerve in the British man, sending the scene into total chaos, as described by one witness, “All hell broke loose.”
Headpushing between the two combatants during the staged stare-down for photographers escalated into a wild brawl of pushing and shoving. Malignaggi was shoved off the back of the stage at the upscale Essex Hotel on Central Park West. Khan’s fans contributed to the unruliness which prompted co-promoter Lou DiBella to threaten to cancel tomorrow’s fight if there are any more shenanigans from the Khan side. Though it was said a nasty personal remark by Malignaggi attacking Khan’s personal life was the lit fuse that caused the huge explosion. As of now the fight is still on for tomorrow night at Madison Square Garden, where Khan vowed to knock Malignaggi into retirement…
