Samantha Cameron to host Downing Street reception for UK and US Boxing Teams for Tickets For Troops event at The Royal Albert Hall

Samantha Cameron, Patron of Tickets For Troops is opening the doors of Number 10 Downing Street today (Thursday) to host a special reception for members of the US and UK Combined Services Boxing Teams.

The event, which is called The Royal Albert Hall Cup and sponsored by Holt’s Military Banking, is the biggest ever for the Tickets For Troops charity and over 4,000 members of the Armed Forces and their families will be supporting their comrades free of charge at the Royal Albert Hall tomorrow evening. (Friday)

The Downing Street reception will celebrate this rare event and guests will include the US Ambassador Louis Susman, Deputy Chief of Mission Barbara Stephenson, the US Marine Corps and the UK Combined Services boxing teams, reigning British and Commonwealth Super Middleweight champion George Groves and boxing promoter Frank Warren.

Also present will be TV personalities and Tickets For Troops supporters Karren Brady and Carol Vorderman, Chairman of London 2012, Lord Coe and Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Peter Wall. The event represents a significant return of boxing to The Royal Albert Hall after a 10 year absence.

Since launching less than two years ago over 100,000 members of the Armed Forces have signed up to the Tickets For Troops scheme (

www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk) and the charity has distributed nearly 300,000 tickets which have been donated by organisations ranging from The FA, the BRIT Awards, top premier league rugby and football clubs, the Lawn Tennis Association as well as major musical acts and theatre performances and the London Olympics.

Samantha Cameron, Patron of Tickets For Troops commented:”This is a great way to celebrate the hard work of the Armed Forces on both sides of the Atlantic: Congratulations to Tickets For Troops on organising another great event for our servicemen and women – their biggest to date. I hope that it is a great night out for everyone involved – they deserve it.”

General Sir David Richards, Chief of the Defence Staff added: “I am delighted that boxing will be returning to the Royal Albert Hall and very grateful to the organisers for supporting Tickets for Troops. Many servicemen and women have served alongside US forces and watching a few bouts of boxing, which I hope the Brits will win, will make a great evening with our American friends.”

1,500 tickets for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals from at the O2 November 20th – 27th;∙

Over 2000 tickets available for the Ideal Home Show at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre;∙

500 tickets for the NFL Match between the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buchaneers at Wembley on the 23rd October∙

50 tickets a show for Question of Sport LIVE in shows Glasgow, Blackpool, Manchester & Birmingham.∙

200 tickets for the Engange Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford on Saturday 8th October
