UFC on Fox 6 Results: Demetrious Johnson Retains Flyweight Title, Teixeira Defeats Rampage

Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson was once again too fast, even for John Dodson. Other than a hiccup in the second round, where Johnson was briefly hurt by good counter lefts from Dodson, Mighty Mouse was in control the entire fight. In the opening fight of the night, Ricardo Lamas wound up on top in a scramble against Eric Koch, and once Lamas had the superior position he never looked back. Lamas destroyed Koch with elbows and punches, opening up Koch badly and leaving him bloodied and battered. With the win, Lamas now has four straight wins and is unbeaten in the UFC.

Lightweight Division (155 lbs.):

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (19-4, 6-1 UFC) vs. Anthony “Showtime” Pettis (15-2, 2-1 UFC)

Round 1:

Pettis with a nice counter right to start. “Showtime” with a left kick and a good combo. Big knee from Cerrone. Another clean right hand from Pettis. Good left hook from Showtime. Cerrone is looking awkward as Pettis is moving in and out of range deftly. Good left body kick from Pettis. Cerrone is backing away, may be hurt from that body shot. Pettis senses it, punches to the same spot. Cerrone really trying to backpedal away, Pettis won’t let him: Showtime with a crushing kick to the liver of Cerrone. The “Cowboy” crumbles in the center of the cage, turtled up, and Pettis finishes him off with a couple punches as the ref steps in.

Light Heavyweight Division (205 lbs.):

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (32-10, 7-4 UFC) vs. Glover Teixeira (19-2, 2-0 UFC)

Round 1:

The fighters mostly feinting and measuring the range for the first minute, and not much happening. Rampage going to the jab, Glover shoots for a takedown and gets it. Glover immediately takes the back of Jackson and gets both hooks in. Teixeira has Rampage flattened out and lands a couple big punches. Rampage turns back over and now Teixeira is going for his patented arm-triangle choke. Rampage is able to escape, and fight off the leg hooks of Teixeira. Jackson is able to get back to his feet, and throw some punches at Glover. Rampage keeps trying to counter hook but can’t find the mark. Teixeira pressing forward with punches, briefly gets Rampage on the cage. Teixeira with a huge punch the drops Jackson. Teixeira all over Rampage, but Jackson gets back up and shows his toughness by surviving the round. 10-9 round for Teixeira.

Round 2:

Teixeira shoots for a single and gets it. Rampage trying to gain guard, Teixeira passes into half. Glover manhandling Rampage on the ground, looking to mount. Teixeira passing to side control, Rampage looks helpless. Big elbow from Teixeira. Rampage escapes to his feet by scrambling up from side control. Rampage throws some big uppercuts but Teixeira takes them well. Glover keeps tagging Rampage with big left hooks. Big uppercut from Teixeira, Rampage may be gassing here late in the 2nd round. Teixeira landing well, both fighters disrespecting each other. Teixeira with a good body shot. Good hooks from Rampage. 10-9 round for Teixeira.

Round 3:

Good left hook from Glover. Both fighters using the left hook as their primary weapon. Nice body kick from Jackson. Teixeira gets hit by a few punches. Glover shoot for a takedown and easily gets it. Glover passes to half guard. Teixeira punching and looking to mount. Teixeira has Rampage against the cage, and is using elbows and punches to soften up Rampage. Teixeira lets Rampage up. Rampage swinging for the fences but missing. Good jab from Jackson. Teixeira with a hard left hook that hurts Jackson. Rampage covering up, eats a head kick. Jackson firing back enough to survive. Another easy takedown for Teixeira, Rampage gets back up though. Vicious body shots and knees from Teixeira, Rampage is sapped. Good jab from Jackson. Nasty left body hook from Glover. Teixeira gets another takedown, and mounts Jackson easily. Teixeira utilizing hammerfists and punches as the fight ends. 10-9 round for Teixeira.

The judges score the fight 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28 for the winner by unanimous decision, Glover Teixeira.

UFC Flyweight Championship (125 lbs.):

Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson (16-2-1, 4-1-1 UFC) vs. John “The Magician” Dodson (14-5, 3-0 UFC)

Round 1:

Dodson rushes forward to take the center of the cage. Good leg kick from Johnson. Another hard leg kick from Mighty Mouse. Outside leg kick by Dodson. Mighty Mouse lands another leg kick, but Dodson catches it, and counters with a hard left. The punch clips Johnson, but he bounces right back up. Johnson tries to throw a head kick and Dodson throws him down. Good left hook from Mighty Mouse. Dodson lands a hard knee to the body while they briefly clinch. Outside leg kick from Johnson. Good body kick from Dodson. Nice counter left hook by Dodson. Mighty Mouse goes for the takedown and gets it. Dodson works his way back to his feet, but eats a punch for his troubles. 10-9 round for Johnson.

Round 2:

Johnson pressing forward, but gets tagged by a counter left. Dodson getting the better of the striking for the moment. Mighty Mouse clinches up with Dodson on the cage. Johnson gets a takedown, Dodson trying to wall walk, and does. Dodson back in the center of the cage. Great jab from Johnson, but then gets nailed by a huge left hand from Dodson that drops Mighty Mouse. Dodson doesn’t pounce, Johnson gets back up. Dodson hurts Mighty Mouse again this time, but for some reason doesn’t turn up the heat. Johnson recovers, throws an outside leg kick. Dodson winning the stand up with power shots, being methodical about it. Mighty Mouse is cut, blood coming from his nose. Good punches from Mighty Mouse. Nice knee to the body from Dodson. 10-9 round for Dodson.

Round 3:

Dodson doing well by countering with left hands. Johnson scoring with outside leg kicks. Mighty Mouse pushing the pace. Dodson defends a takedown beautifully, eats a low blow. Time called, fight resumes. Outside leg kick from Dodson. Flying knee from Dodson misses. Good kick from Johnson. Good punches from Johnson. Nasty body kick from Dodson. Johnson rushes in and gets a takedown. Dodson trying to work his way back up, but can’t do it. Johnson gets some light shots in, then Dodson gets up. 10-9 round for Johnson.

Round 4:

Outside leg kick from Dodson. Johnson still continues to push the pace with forward pressure. Mighty Mouse gets a takedown and passes to side control, but Dodson gets up. Johnson working for a takedown, hits Dodson with an illegal knee. Fight stops, doctor checks on Dodson, clears him to continue. Fight resumes, Dodson with a nice left hand. Johnson in on a single leg, Dodson hops backwards to the cage. Dodson breaks free. Good punches from Mighty Mouse. Johnson again trying to take Dodson down. Good knees from Johnson. For the next minute, Johnson has Dodson clinched up the cage, and Mighty Mouse is breaking him down with knees to the body and head. By the time Dodson gets free, the round is nearly over, but Dodson is bloodied and winded. 10-9 round for Johnson

Round 5:

The flyweights trade leg kicks. Good clinch and knee work from Mighty Mouse. Dodson gets taken down against the cage. Dodson works his way back up. Mighty Mouse is relentless with pressure, Dodson is tired. Johnson with more punches, but actually gives up a takedown to Dodson. First time all fight Mighty Mouse gets taken down, and he gets right back up. Dodson shoots for a single, but gets shut down. Big knee from the champion hurts Dodson. Mighty Mouse is all over him with punches and more knees. Dodson is getting beat up here in the last round. More knees from the clinch by Mighty Mouse to end the fight. 10-9 round for Johnson.

The judges score the fight 48-47, 49-46, 48-47 for the winner by unanimous decision, Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.
