Salita on Khan: “I am 100% Confident

Dmitri Salita has waited patiently for his first world title opportunity and it will not be long now. Newly crowned WBA Junior Welterweight champ Amir Khan must face the #1 ranked Salita within three months. Salita shared some thoughts on the imminent fight with Khan…

“I have seen Khan box and yes he is a skilled boxer. There will be a few different strategies to defeat him. He has a good technician in Freddie Roach.”

“I have been around world class fighters my whole life. I look forward to the fight and my opportunity.
Early negotiations began between Frank Warren and Square Ring. Its moving along and I hope the fight gets made. I am the mandatory challenger and I can’t wait to get in the ring with Amir and fight for my world title.”

“He has to fight me within 120 days, I was bypassed last time and it will not happen again. The WBA mandatory at this weight is very long over due.”

“The time for this fight can’t come soon enough. I’m going to take that belt. It was very disrespectful for him to fight for the title before I did and I’m going to take out all of my frustration on him when I get my belt. Amir Khan is just holding on to my championship right now.”

“I am 100% confident in victory. I’ve been around the highest level of boxing since a very young age and feel ready for the challenge. I think that tactically Khan fought a near perfect fight. He used very good ring generalship and boxing skills, and much credit is due to Freddie Roach for designing the game plan. I do see weakness in Amir’s game, he is a good boxer but I intend to beat guys at that level to show my class to box with the elite.”

Dmitri Salita’s record is 31-0-1 with 16 KO’s. Amir Khan’s record is 21-1 (15).
