Impressive Manuel Charr Destroys Konstantin Airich In Comeback Fight

By Johnny Walker

Heavyweight contender Manuel “Diamond Boy” Charr didn’t fare all that well in his title fight against WBC champion Vitali Klitschko in September, when he was stopped because of a cut on his right eyebrow.

However, Charr, who had wanted the fight to continue, didn’t sit around crying about the loss for too long. Today, the fighter got back in the ring with Konstantin “Sandman” Airich, who had taken the highly-touted heavyweights Odlanier Solis and Vyacheslav Glazkov the distance earlier this year.

Charr clearly had no intentions of letting Airich hear the final bell today in Cologne, Germany. After the opening bell, he disoriented Airich with flurries of punches and slammed him with some hard body shots.

Airich looked surprised as Charr, not always a fast starter, continued his barrage and chased him around the ring. A hard hook to the body then put Arich on the canvas, where he would stay as he was counted out by referee Daniel Van de Wiele at 0:44 of round number one.

With the impressive win, Charr picks up the vacant WBC Baltic and Mediterranean heavyweight titles.
