The following is the Boxing Insider notebook for the week of August 19th to August 26th, covering the comings and goings in the sport of boxing that you might have missed.

Jermain Taylor Arrested for Shooting Cousin

Former middleweight champion Jermaine Taylor was arrested at his home in Arkansas in connection with the shooting of his cousin.

His cousin was shot multiple times and Taylor is currently charged with first degree domestic battery and aggravated assault. This arrest happened recently and the details are still being sort out, but it is alleged that the shooting occurred at Taylor’s home and that he fired several rounds in the direction of his cousin.

Taylor was in line for a middleweight title shot at Sam Soliman.

Mayweather vs. Maidana to Have Earlier Start Time

In other Floyd Mayweather Jr. related news, his pay per view bout with Marcos Maidana is set to have an earlier start time. The pay per view, slated to air on Saturday, September 13th from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, is set to start at 8:00 p.m. eastern time instead of the traditional 9:00 p.m. start time.

“Pay-per-view boxing events have changed, and we think it’s time the scheduling changed too,” said Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President and General Manager, SHOWTIME Sports. “Along with our partners at Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions, we have been presenting compelling four-fight cards with multiple 12-round world championship bouts. As a result, we’ve seen the start of the main event coming later and later into the night which is not an ideal viewing experience for viewers in the Eastern and Central time zones. No other major sport makes a significant portion of their audiences wait until well past midnight for the peak of the event. Showtime PPV will no longer be one of the exceptions.”

Pacquiao vs. Algieri Ticket Information Released

The Manny Pacquiao vs. Chris Algieri welterweight title clash is currently set for November 22, 2014 at the Veetian Macao in Macao China on HBO pay per view at 9:00 p.m. eastern time. Tickets will go on sale on August 29th and a pre-sale will happen from August 26th to August 28th.

They are currently on a two week 27, 273 mile international media tour which started on August 25th with a press conference at the Venetian Macao. The tour will include stops in Shanghai, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York.

“Chris Algieri fought an exceptional fight in June to win the world title from Ruslan Provodnikov,” said Pacquiao. “I am impressed and intrigued by his scientific approach to training and boxing. He may be the smartest and the fittest athlete I have ever faced and that makes him the most dangerous. I worked hard to reclaim my welterweight title and I will work harder to make sure I keep it on November 22. As always, I dedicate this fight to my fellow Filipinos around the world and to bring glory to the Philippines.”

“It is a real honor to fight a future Hall of Famer like Manny Pacquiao and I am looking forward to being introduced to a whole new market and fan base in the Far East,” said Algieri “My last fight against Ruslan Provodnikov got the world’s attention, now I am going to show what I can really do. I have the utmost respect for Manny and his great team, but make no mistake — I am here to win and I have nothing on my mind but beating a legend.”

Advance tickets to Pacquiao vs. Algieri are available for purchase August 26-28 for Sands Rewards Club and Cotai Ring Club members. This exclusive pre-sale offer is available only at the Cotai Arena box office, and is not available online or via phone. Philippine Supreme Court Issues Temporary Restraining Order in Pacquiao Tax Case

The Philippine Supreme Court issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to stop the enforcement of the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) ruling which ordered Saranggani Congressman Manny Pacquiao and his wife Jinkee to post a cash bond in the amount of P3,298,514,894.35 (US$74.9 Million) or a surety bond in the amount of P4,947,772,341.53 (US$112.4 Million), as a condition for suspending the collection of alleged deficiency 2008 and 2009 income tax and value added tax by the Bureau of Internal Revenue while their appeal is still being heard.
