Canelo vs. Lara Announced for July 12th

Erislandy Lara (19-1-2) has pulled out of his scheduled fight with Ishe Smith to take on Caleno Alvarez (43-1-1) on July 12th for a pay-per view bout. The bout was initially scheduled to take place in Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York but has since been moved to the Barclays Center. Brandon Rios was discussed as a possible opponent for Provodnikov, but Rios’ perceived inability to make the junior welterweight limit forced Provodnikov’s camp to seek out different options.
