Chayapon Moonsri Goes to 49-0 So Move Over Marciano and “Here I Come” Mayweather!

WBC Minimumweight (#105) champion Chayapon Moonsri made his 9th title defense improving his record to 49-0 (17) equaling the late great heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano’s 49-0 record. He defeated Tatsuya Fukuhara, 19-5-6, of Japan, at Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. He is but one win from matching Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr., at 50-0. That’s the good news. The bad news is Mayweather may make “another comeback” against another “amateur”. How about a rematch with Colin McGregor on March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day, in Dublin Ireland, but this time maybe an 8 round bout instead of a 10 or 12?

Moonsri has an alias which is Wanheng Menayothin/Kaiyanghada. He was born at Maha Sarakham, Thailand, on October 27, 1985 and resides in Bangkok, Thailand, and has never had a fight outside of his home country.

Like Mayweather the 32 year-old Moonsri had a couple of “helpful bumps” to get to 49-0. In his 39th fight he defeated a 2-4 opponent in a 6 rounder. In his 44th fight he defeated a 7-8-1 opponent in a 6 rounder. In his 46th fight he defeated a 13-5 opponent in a 6 rounder. He also defeated Melvin Jerusalem, 11-0, by 115-113 and 114-113 twice due to a one point deduction to Jerusalem in the 8th round due to a low blow by referee Celestino Ruiz, who lives in Chicago, IL. Jerusalem was then defeated in his next fight preventing a rematch with Moonsri that is if he was going to get one prior to losing for the second straight time.
