BoxingInsider.com's Guide to Betting the Fights

When betting on a boxing fight, you should tell the casino which fighter you would like to bet on, the bet number, and the amount of money you wish to bet.

Odds for boxing are shown using something called a "Money Line." The Money Line: Odds for a fight based on $1.00. A "minus" (-) proceeding the number indicates the boxer is the favorite. A "plus" (+) proceeding the number indicates the boxer is an underdog.

For example:

Bet Number Boxer Odds
2001 Mike Tyson -260
2002 Evander Holyfield +220

Mike Tyson is favored to win the fight. If Tyson ends up winning, a $26.00 bet would win you $10.00, and returns $36.00. If Holyfield ends up winning, a $10.00 bet would win $22.00, and returns $32.00.

A draw on a straight bet will give you a 100% refund on your bet.

Boxing matches often feature money line proposition wagers on more than just the outcome of the fight. Knockouts, draws, rounds and the duration of the fight also come into play. Odds vary from fight to fight.

Tyical Rules For Wagering Boxing

5.1 BOXING

a) When the bell is sounded signifying the start of the opening round, the bout is considered official for betting purposes, regardless of the scheduled length, weight, classification or championship sanction.

b) When a draw/tie is posted on the board as one of the options available to wager on and the fight ends in a draw, Intertops.com pays only the bets on a draw and does not refund any wagers on either fighter.

c) Round by Round Betting Proposition: If the fight ends in a points-verdict or a draw your bet has lost. If either fighter fails to answer the bell for a round the fight is judged to have finished in the previous round.

d) When K.O. (knock-out) is posted on the board as one of the options available to wager on, K.O. (knock-out), T.K.O. (technical knock-out) and Disqualification are regarded as K.O. for betting purposes.

e) All Fights must go within one (1) week of the specified date to have action unless otherwise noted.
