“Irish Squads” Nine of the ten champions, IABA

Nine of the ten champions from February’s Elite Male finals at the National Stadium in Dublin have been named in two Irish squads for Multi-Nations tournaments in Poland and Finland next week.

European light-flyweight and Commonwealth champion and 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Paddy Barnes and AIBA World Youth champion Joe Ward are included in a seven-strong squad of Elite champions for the Feliks Stamm Multi- Nations which glove off in Warsaw, Poland next Tuesday.

European silver medalist and 2009 EU champ Darren O’Neill, AIBA World bronze medalist John Joe Nevin, 2009 EU champ Con Sheehan, Michael McDonagh and Cathal McMonagle will also compete at the Feliks Stamm tournament.

Ten-time Irish Elite champion and 2008 Olympic silver medalist Ken Egan has been included in a seven strong squad for the Gee Bee Multi-Nations in Helsinki, Finland.

Current Elite champions Adam Nolan and Michael Conlon will also compete in the Finnish capital, along with 2009 EU champ David Oliver Joyce, European bronze medalist Tyrone McCullagh, 2009 European Youth champ Jason Quigley and 2008 AIBA World Youth bronze medalist Tommy McCarthy.

David Oliver Joyce claimed gold at the 2010 Gee Bee tournament, while Ryan Lindberg, Eamon O’Kane and Declan Geraghty won silver.
