Reese to Face Trevino in All-Michigan Pro MMA Showdown At Palace

No Guts, No Glory is Donofrio’s Triumphant Return to Professional MMA at the Palace of Auburn Hills

One of the feature bouts has been announced for Saturday, November 17’s professional mixed martial arts event at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Fighting in the Donofrio MMA, in association with Palace Sports & Entertainment, event entitled Impact Fight League 51 “No Guts No Glory” will be a pair of well-established warriors with ties to the State of Michigan, as Livonia native James “JP” Reese (8-3), now a member of American Top Team in Florida, will face Alexander “Spider” Trevino (5-3), raised in Montague, Michigan, but now with Gracie Jiu Jitsu in Los Angeles.

The pair will meet in a high-impact 155-lb lightweight showdown that features 11 other full-contact pro matchups between many of the best fighters from Michigan, the Midwest and Canada.

31-year-old Trevino is a Strikeforce veteran and former cast member of UFC champion Frank Shamrock’s reality series, “School of Hard Knocks”. With good boxing skills to complement his excellent Jiu Jitsu, Trevino went 3-1 in Strikeforce before losing three of his last four bouts. The fight against Reese will be his first at 155 lbs, as he has previously competed exclusively at 170 lbs.

A veteran of Strikeforce and Bellator Fighting Championships, 31-year-old Reese is a solid striker and an extremely tough competitor. After a heavily decorated high school wrestling career that saw him go 57-1 in his senior year, Reese wrestled for the University of Missouri and stands second all-time in career pins (47).

“This is going to be a war between two local fighters with implications on the world stage,” said event promoter Joseph Donofrio. “These guys are very tough veterans, both with tremendous skills and something to prove in front of their hometown fans. It’s going to be sensational.”

Other sensational match-ups will be announced shortly.
