Middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. takes on Peter Manfredo Jr. from Houston, Texas. Manfredo will look to not only take the belt of Chavez, but will also look to end his undefeated record. The winner of this fight may choose to call out current middleweight kingpin Sergio Martinez, but will have to defeat their opponent first. Round by round results are as follows.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.(46-0) vs. Peter Manfredo Jr. (27-6)
Round 1:
Manfredo and Chavez come out to the middle of the ring, and Chavez lands an early jab. Manfredo partially lands a lead left hook, and throws a jab to the body of Chavez. Chavez flicks out two quick jabs but fails to connect. Manfredo throws another lead hook that is partially blocked. Chavez lands two body shots on Manfredo. Manfredo throws out a soft jab, and lands a left hook to the body of Manfredo. Manfredo throws a right cross to the body, and Chavez answers with a left hook that is blocked. Chavez connects with a jab, and a short hook to the body. Chavez connects with a jab to the body, and a jab hook combination upstairs. 10-9 round for Chavez.

Round 2:
Manfredo comes out and throws out a hook, and connects with a lead left hook. Chavez with a jab cross combination on Manfredo by the ropes. Chavez with another lead hook, and Manfredo tags Chavez with a jab down the middle. Chavez tags Manfredo with a right cross. Chavez with a nice hook to the body. Chavez tags Manfredo again with a right cross. Chavez with a nice double jab cross combination. Chavez hits Manfredo with another two punch combination. Chavez comes forward with a lead right hand, and sticks a jab to the body of Manfredo. Chavez with a lead left hook to the head of Manfredo. 10-9 round for Chavez as he ends the round with a combination.
Round 3:
Manfredo flicks out a double jab, and connects with a left hook. Chavez with a thumping right hand on Manfredo. Chavez with a hard head body combination Manfredo that gets a positive reaction from the crowd. Manfredo pushes Chavez against the ropes but Chavez gets out of the way of danger. Chavez with another two punch combination upstairs. Chavez lands another jab down the middle on Manfredo. Chavez lands a right uppercut, and the crowd begins to chant the name of Chavez. Referee calls time and sends Chavez to a neutral corner to cut some tape from the right glove of Manfredo. Chavez counters Manfredo with three stiff jabs and two hard hooks near the end of the round. Manfredo hits Chavez near the end of the round.
Round 4:
Chavez throws out two jabs and connects on both of them. Chavez throws some hard shots on Manfredo by the ropes and the crowd reacts accordingly. The crowd begins to chant the name of Chavez again, and Manfredo connects with a jab and two hooks to the body of Chavez. Chaves connects with a hard right cross and Manfredo presses Chavez by the corner with a body punch. Manfredo eats a right hook by Chavez, and Manfredo throws a hard right hand that connects and Chavez yells at him to come forward with more. Chavez connects with a lead left hook and a hard right hand. Chavez connects with another lead left hook. Chavez backed into a corner but able to rotate out of danger. Chavez hits Manfredo with a very stiff jab. Manfredo hits Chaves with two punches and Chavez answers with two hard punches of his own. Better round for Manfredo, close round though. 10-9 round for Manfredo.
Round 5:
Manfredo throws a lead hook to the body of Chavez, and connects with a right cross to the head of Chavez. Chavez connects with a lead jab, and a looping right uppercut. Chavez jabs at the body of Manfredo. A jab from Chavez snaps the head of Manfredo back, and Manfredo tags Chavez with a good right hand and a left to the body of Chavez. Chavez hits Manfredo with a hard right hand that stuns Manfredo, Chavez begins to unload on Manfredo with numerous hard shots by the ropes and Manfredo is trying to stay alive. Just as Manfredo tries to clinch the referee stops the fight. It might have been a questionable stoppage, but Manfredo was obviously hurt.

In the post fight interview Chavez states that it was the first time he was focusing on defense and it worked out very well. Chavez stated that he wants to fight the best, including Martinez and Alvarez, and it is up to his promoter as to who he fights next.
