Ireland claimed three gold medals and one silver from four finals in Friday’s Feliks Stamm Multi-Nations finals in Warsaw Poland.
John Joe Nevin, Joe Ward and Darren O’Neill finished on top of the podium.
Tipperary heavyweight Con Sheehan lost out in his heavyweight final with Bahran Muzaffer of Turkey.
Cavan bantamweight Nevin, who eliminated Olympic and European bronze medalists en route to his final, claimed the first gold for Ireland with an 11-7 verdict over Dawid Michelus of Poland in the bantamweight class.
Kilkenny middleweight O’Neill, the 2010 European silver medalist and current EU champion – and no stranger to winning Multi-Nation gold – followed that up with a 10-7 decision over Turkey’s Adem Kibici.
Seventeen-year-old AIBA World Youth champion Joe Ward, the 2009 AIBA World Junior champion, completed the hat-trick with a convincing 10-3 victory over Canar Sayak, also of Turkey in the light-heavyweight category.
The win – in only his 6th Senior bout – was Ward’s first Senior Multi-Nation gold, at his first attempt.
Friday’s wins will almost certainly see Ireland finish in a top-two position in the medals table from the 17-nation tournament.
“The lads performed very well in today’s finals, said Irish Team Manager Des Donnelly. “They’ve had three tough days at these Multi-Nations and we’re delighted to be taking home four medals.”
IABA head coach Billy Walsh and Zuar Antia were working Ireland’s corner in Poland.
The six-man Irish squad, all current Elite champion, won 11 bouts and lost three in three days in Warsaw.
The squad are due to arrive home via Dublin Airport at 2pm today.
Meanwhile, six Irish boxers will compete in today’s Gee Bee Multi-Nations semi-finals in Helsinki, Finland.
Ken Egan, Jason Quigley, David Oliver Joyce, Michael Conlon, Adam Nolan and Tommy Mccarthy will be in action.
