At the PAL Center in Hockessin, DE, Saturday co-promoters Joey Tiberi, Jr., and Todd Mulvena put on a 10 bout card. Matchmaker was Nick Tiberi. It was a large crowd in attendance. Portions of the proceeds went to Attack Addictions.

In the Main Event Joey Tiberi, Jr., 15-3 (8), of Newark, DE, was stopped by Kevin “The Scarecrow” Womack, 8-14-4 (8), of Baltimore, MD, at 2:27 of the first round for the USBU America’s Super Lightweight title.

Womack was tall and slim and looked like he could be a problem for the shorter Tiberi. A flurry of punches from Womack dropped Tiberi and it looked like he may have been hit. The second knockdown was close to a punch behind the head. The third knockdown and referee Dave Braswell wisely halted the fight.

In the co-feature Lamont “The Problem Solver” Singletary, 9-2 (6), of Dover, DE, Hafiz “Dawg Pound” Montgomery, 5-2 (2), of Toms River, NJ, for the USBU North East Regional Cruiserweight title.

In the first round Singletary controlled the round with his jab. Montgomery did land an overhand right to the head of Singletary. In the second round Montgomery landed a lead overhand right to the head of Singletary. Singletary landed a solid combination to the head of Montgomery.

In the third round Singletary controlled with his jab. Montgomery landed an overhand right to the head of Singletary. Singletary rocked Montgomery who came back with a right of his own which brought the crowd to their feet. In the fourth round Singletary landed a hard right to the rib cage of Montgomery. A lead right by Singletary on the chin of Montgomery and down he went face first. Referee deWysocki didn’t bother to count calling the ring physician in immediately.

Super bantamweight Ariel Lopez, 8-0 (6), of Pueblo, MEX, stopped Angel “El Chillo” Carvajal, 2-8 (0), of Chicago, IL, at 1:28 of the sixth and final round.

In the first round Carvajal pinned Lopez against the ropes with half a dozen punches. A left hook to the head by Lopez got the attention of Carvajal. In the second round Lopez landed a double right uppercut to the chin of Carvajal. Lopez continued landing the right uppercut right up to the bell. In the third round Carvajal continued to press the action coming in low working the body of Lopez but taking right uppercuts to the chin in return. A right uppercut by Lopez to the chin of Carvajal rocked him.

In the fourth round Lopez continued to use the right uppercut to score points. Carvajal ended the round with an overhand right to the head of Lopez. In the fifth round a Lopez right uppercut to the chin had Carvajal in trouble and forced to hold. A Lopez right uppercut drove Carvajal into the ropes preventing a knockdown making referee Dave Braswell give him an 8 count. In the sixth and final round Lopez was dishing out quite a bit of punishment when referee Braswell stepped in to stop the fight but the fans did not agree with that move or did Carvajal who deserved to go the distance.

This writer had Lopez ahead 49-45 at time of stoppage.

Middleweight Sonny Duversonne, 0-0-1 (0), of Orlando FL, fought to a draw in a real barn burner with Dominican Dino Peralta, 0-0-1 (0), of Brooklyn, NY, over 4 rounds.

In the first round Peralta had Duversonne against the ropes landing an overhand right to the chin. Duversonne countered off the ropes with a solid right to the chin of Peralta. Peralta had Duversonne in a neutral corner landing well at the bell. In the second round Duversonne rocked Peralta with a lead right to the chin. Peralta turned to southpaw landing a solid right hook to the chin of Duversonne and switched back to orthodox. Peralta had Duversonne against the ropes landing a dozen unanswered punches. Duversonne rocked Peralta with a right to the chin. Duversonne knocked out Peralta’s mouthpiece. Just prior to the bell Peralta landed a left hook to the head of Duversonne moving him several feet to his left.

In the fourth and final round Peralta continued to chase Duversonne landing a left hook to the head. Duversonne came back with a counter right to the chin. Peralta landed a wild overhand right to the neck of Duversonne. Duversonne drove Peralta into a corner but Peralta came back landing a solid left hook to the head. Peralta nose was bleeding from a Duversonne right. At the bell it was Peralta drove Duversonne into the ropes. This was an all action bout.

Judge’s scores were not announced on who the winner was. This writer had it 39-37 Peralta.

Light heavyweight southpaw Maurice “War Time” Horne, 2-0 (1), of Middletown, DE, stopped Mike “Top Notch” Anderson, 0-1 (0), of Philadelphia at the end of the first round.

In the first round the taller Horne caught Anderson coming in with a straight left to the chin. Horne landed over a dozen unanswered punches when the bell sounded ending the round. Anderson wouldn’t come out for the second round.

Super bantamweight Weusi “the Truth” Johnson, 2-6, of Wilmington, DE, lost by majority decision to southpaw Edgar Joe Cortes, 5-4 (0), of Vineland, NJ, over 4 rounds.

In the first round Cortes was the aggressor with Johnson countering well. Just prior to the bell both boxers were slugging it out with Johnson getting the better of it. In the second round Cortes landed a good right hook to the chin of Johnson. Both boxers gave the fans something to yell about. Cortes may have had an edge.

In the third round Johnson fighting off the ropes outworked Cortes. Shortly later a Johnson right hand rocked Cortes. Johnson landed a hard right uppercut to the midsection of Cortes. Johnson took the round. In the fourth and final round Johnson landed a double right to the head of Cortes who was holding Johnson’s left arm. Cortes came back with a 3-punch combination. Cortes countered a Johnson miss with a left to the chin. Dave Braswell was the referee. Top DE trainer Doug Pettiford was in the corner of Johnson and assisted by top DE boxer Omar “Super O” Douglas.

Judge’s scores 39-37 twice and 38-38 as did this writer 38-38.

Middleweight southpaw Michael “The Hammer” Crain, 0-1-1 (0), of Smyrna, DE, lost a majority decision to Anthony Woods, 1-3, of Philadelphia, PA, over 4 rounds. Vic deWysocki was the referee.

In the first round Crain landed a 3-punch combination to the head of Woods. Woods drove Crain into the ropes. Crain drove Woods into a neutral corner only to be countered by a left hook to the chin. In the second round Woods walked into a straight left to the chin from Crain. Woods landed a solid left hook to the chin of Crain. Crain walked into a solid right from Woods stopping Crain in his tracks. Woods used a good body attack having Crain holding on.

In the third round both boxers mixed it up well. Crain took over at the halfway mark. In the fourth round and final round Crain knocked out the mouthpiece of Woods. Woods came back with a combination rocking Crain. Woods landed a lead right to the chin of Crain. Crain came back but suffered a bad cut by the right eye. It was an action packed round. Rev Thompson worked corner of Woods. Kamarh Pasley worked the corner of Crain.

Judge’s Wallace and Gradowski 39-37 and Jasper 38-38 for winner. This writer had it 39-37 for Crain.

Middleweight Female Shamelle “The Real Deal” Baldwin, 1-0 (0), of Wilmington, DE, defeated southpaw Crystal Byers, 0-2 (0), of Bethesda, OH, over 4 rounds.

In the first round it was all Baldwin. In the second round a straight right by Baldwin to the chin of Byers got her attention. In the third round a lead right from Baldwin to the chin of Byers drove her into the ropes. In the fourth and final round Byers landed a combination to the chin of Baldwin.

Judge’s scores 40-36 as was this writer’s.

Middleweight Brandon Mullins, 1-0 (0), of Newark, DE, shut out Leon DeShields, 0-2 (0), of Philadelphia, over 4 rounds.

In the first round it was all Mullins landing left hooks and lead rights to the head of DeShields. In the second round Mullins landed over a half dozen unanswered punches. Mullins ended the round with a lead right to the chin of DeShields.

In the third round Mullins drove DeShields into the ropes with half a dozen unanswered punches. A 3-punch combination by Mullins drove DeShields into the ropes with his left eye half closing. In the fourth and final round a lead right by Mullins to the chin of DeShields had him hurt. Mullins had DeShields holding on at the end of the round. The referee was Braswell. Kamarh Pasley worked the corner of Mullins and Fred Jenkins Sr. the corner of DeShields. Mullins had a big following of fans.

Judge’s scores were 40-36 twice and 39-37. This writer had it 40-36.
