Saturday, April 26, 2025 | The Suffolk, Riverhead, NY
Broadcast: Live stream
Promoter: Larry Goldberg, Boxing Insider Promotions

Boxing Insider Promotions partnered with Hill Street Boxing and Marty Hopwood to bring professional boxing back to Riverhead for the first time in 113 years. According to BoxRec, the last professional bout held in Riverhead was on May 30, 1912, when Larry Hall defeated Kid Lewin by decision. The venue for this historic return was The Suffolk, the restored 1933 Art Deco theater once hailed as “the Radio City Music Hall of Long Island.” Doors opened at 1:00 PM for a full card of USA Boxing Metro-sanctioned amateur bouts featuring top local talent, with the professional fights following in the evening. Former heavyweight contender Gerry Cooney was on commentary and charmed the crowd all night. Matchmaker: Eric Bottjer.

MAIN EVENT
Terell “The Problem Child” Bostic (16-2, 3 KOs) def. Francisco Javier Grande (7-5-2)
Super Lightweight — 8 Rounds
Result: TKO Round 6

The Long Island native brought an electric crowd to The Suffolk for his hometown headliner. Bostic, fighting out of Wyandanch in Suffolk County, had more than 30 amateur bouts before turning pro in 2015 and had appeared on multiple Boxing Insider cards at Sony Hall — including a competitive eight-round war with Matthew “Lefty Gunz” Gonzalez. A slick boxer who relies on his jab more than power, Bostic found the stoppage in the sixth against the durable Mexican, picking up only his third career knockout. A father of four who donates his time to help children with special needs, Bostic had the Suffolk County crowd on their feet all night.

CO-FEATURE
Deborah Melhorn (1-0) def. Nisa “Sweet-Destruction” Rodriguez (4-1, 2 KOs)
Junior Middleweight — 6 Rounds (2-minute rounds)
Result: Majority Decision

The upset of the night. Rodriguez, a fulltime NYPD officer rated No. 4 in the world by the WBA, was making history — believed to be the first professional boxer mother to fight on the same card as her amateur boxing son, 15-year-old Emerson. Rodriguez, an eight-time New York Daily News Golden Gloves and six-time Metro Championships gold medalist, was fighting at her natural weight class for the first time as a pro. But the German Melhorn, making her professional boxing debut after competing in bare knuckle and kickboxing, pulled the upset on the judges’ scorecards.
