Golden Boy Promotions put on another successful boxing card, from the Fantasy Springs casino & resort from Indio, California. The card was broadcast by HBO Latino and was action packed in all three bouts.
Tevin Farmer (19-4-1 4KO) vs. Daulis Prescott (30-2 22KO) Super Featherweights:
This fight was controlled from the beginning by Tevin Farmer. From the opening bell, Farmer showcased his superior speed and power. Farmer had the more crisp punches and body movement. In the third round, Farmer begins to put his combinations together which leads to some good exchanges but farmer always comes away the winner in them.
The fourth round has the first knockdown, where Farmer lands a huge overhand left with thirty seconds left. Prescott is able to pull himself off the canvas, and immediately Farmer attacks. In the flurry Prescott’s glove and knee touch the canvas, but the referee lets him get up and keep on fighting, not stopping the action until the bell rings, shortly after.
Prescott is shelled up as Farmer unloads on him during the sixth round. Prescott has no power to keep Farmer off of him. Prescott is then dropped with a right hand, but is also hit with a shot while he is down. The referee counts the knock down and then takes a point from Farmer for hitting Prescott while down. Prescott is given five minutes to recover, and Prescott uses the entire five minutes. The time doesn’t help Prescott at all, Farmer controls the rest of the round easily.
In the eighth round Farmer swarms Prescott, feinting and landing a huge overhand left that needs no count. The fight is stopped, Farmer wins by Knock Out.

Yoandris Salinas (21-1-2-14KO) vs. Manuel Avila (17-0 7KO) Super Bantamweight:
Both of these fighters came out trading leather early. Each having good moments, trying to earn the respect from their punches. Both fighters get into a good exchange in the second round and a short right hand from Avila drops Salinas to the canvas. Avila smells blood and attacks, sending both fighters into a furious flurry of punches.
Salinas wants to counter with one big shot, but ends up taking a lot of punches trying to get his timing down. He is eventually able to land a couple in the third round, but takes punishment waiting to get his punches in.
Avila begins to use his jab steadily to keep Salinas at bay.
Salinas seems to have been taken out of his game plan and just uninterested in the fight. He continues to tie up with Avila and turning his back when they are pulled apart.
It turns out that Salinas was fighting with a broken right hand, and could no longer continue. His corner put a stop to the fight after the sixth round.

Johan Perez (20-2-1 13KO) vs. Dmitry Mikhaylenko (19-0 8KO) Welterweights:
Mikhaylenko came out the gate as the more aggressive fighter from the opening bell, even though he sustained a cut from an accidental headbutt almost immediately into the fight. Mikhaylenko wants to go punch for punch, while Perez tries to stick to a boxing game plan.
By the third round, both fighters are going toe to toe, testing each others chins with big shots. Mikhaylenko begins to breath out of his mouth at the sixty second mark of each round. Almost like he is punching himself out and recharging at the break.
Perez proves that he has an outstanding chin, but that probably only did him harm in taking more punishment in the long run.
By the halfway point of the fight, both men looked incredibly tired. There was no doubt that both wouldn’t make it to the end of the fight.
The beginning of the 8th round was just an all out attack by Mikhaylenko on Perez. Perez looked like a rag doll, bleeding from his eyebrow, mouth and nose. The referee had no option but to step in and put a stop to the fight.
