David Haye vs Dereck Chisora To Be Streamed Live On Facebook By EPIX

Despite—or maybe partly because of—all the cries of protest from the media moralists and the finger-waving old ladies of the Internet, the heavyweight grudge match featuring UK compatriots, former WBA world heavyweight champion David “Hayemaker” Haye and Dereck “Del Boy” Chisora, continues to draw great interest not only in Britain, but world-wide.

Following a Wladimir Klitschko title fight that was a redundant affair in which the Ukrainian world champion proved once again superior to an American contender (one who he had already beaten), Haye (25-2, 23 KOs) versus Chisora (15-3, 9 KOs), is exciting precisely because no one is quite sure what is going to happen.

No world title is at stake (though the WBA Intercontinental and WBC International heavyweight straps will be up for grabs), but that hardly matters here: it’s the fight itself, not the rewards for the winner, that counts. This one is intensely personal for both men, who truly don’t like each other.

Such is the interest in the fight—over 30,000 fans are expected in Upton Park, London–that the EPIX network, which has become the home of heavyweight action for US fans, is breaking new ground by showing Haye versus Chisora on a live stream to Facebook, starting Saturday at 4:30 ET.

Boxing fans can watch the fight at https://www.facebook.com/EpixHD and https://www.facebook.com/EPIXSports if they sign up for a free trial membership.

“EPIX is excited to be the first to stream live boxing on Facebook and to continue to expand the platforms where U.S. fans can see their favorite entertainment,” said Travis Pomposello, EPIX CCO and executive producer of EPIX Sports.

For those who live in or are visiting New York City, EPIX will also once again be screening the heavyweight clash on the Jumbtron in Times Square, as they have done for recent fights featuring the Klitschko brothers and Alexander Povetkin. And of course the fight will be shown on the regular EPIX network and on EpixHD.com as well.

No matter where you watch this one from or what format you choose, it’s sure to be entertaining.
