Status at time of interview:  WBC Light Heavyweight champion impressively defended his title for first time this past weekend with a 6th round KO over mandatory challenger Thomas Ulrich in Dusseldorf, Germany.

DOB:  December 1, 1976  in: Zywiec, Poland

Childhood Heroes:  “I was always looking at the boxers on films of fights. I like Oscar De La Hoya is nice. Roy Jones. And Evander Holyfield.”

Hobbies/Interests:  “Every sport. I like soccer. Swimming. Every sport. Because I am sportsman, I like the sports.”

Nicknames:  Goral, Tomahawk.

Favorite Movies:  “Action.”

Musical Tastes:  “Hip-hop, Eminem I like.”

First Job:  “Mechanic. Now I’m a student also.”

First Car:  “Fiat (green).”

Early Boxing Memory:  “I wanted to be a world champion. I’m always looking at the boxers in the films of fights. I have too much energy. My father like the fights. I have maybe what he has.”

Favorite Meal:  “Fish, sushi.”

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor:  “No, but I like the

special Polish cakes, stuff like that.”

Pre-Fight Feeling:  “I only think about winning the fight.”

Greatest Sports Moment:  “When I won the world title against Paul Briggs (in Chicago in May 2005).”

Most Painful Moment:  “IBC International title, I win the fight. But it was a very heavy fight. It was the heavyiest of all my fighting (vs. Rudi Lupo in 2001 in Warsaw).”

Worst Injury:  “No injury except for broken nose.”

Favorite Vacation Spot:  “Always like it at home. I live in the mountains.”

Funny Boxing Memory:  “No.”

Embarrassing Boxing Memory:  “The worst thing that happened was when I got the nose broken five weeks before (Briggs) fight. The worst thing that hever happened.”

Favorite Boxers To Watch:  “I like Oscar De La Hoya. The clear boxers, faster, good technical. Just to fight - I don’t like that. Tecnical fights I like. Like Oscar with Trinidad. There are many fights I like.”

People Qualities Most Admired:  “Normal, like me. No anger. Courteous.”

Family:  Wife, Dorota; daughters, Roxana,

Veronica; dog, Maya (German shepard).

Future Ambition:  “To be a big champion in America.”
