    BoxingInsider.com Interview with Quinton Jackson

With Pride: Final Conflict only a few days away, BoxingInsider.com caught up with the extremely popular and controversial Quinton “Rampage” Jackson to ask about the upcoming show. In the first round, he faces the very tough striker Chuck Liddell.

In this pre-fight interview, Jackson talks about his game-plan for the fight with Liddell, gives his thoughts on Wanderlei Silva, and explains the real reasons he likes to fight in Japan.

    Boxinginsider.com: How's your training going?

Quinton Jackson: Training is going pretty good.

Boxinginsider.com: What are your thoughts on your upcoming match against Chuck Liddell?

Quinton Jackson: I think it's going to be a good fight, man. There's going to be some shit going on.

Boxinginsider.com: How do you think the fight's going to play out?

Quinton Jackson: I think it's going to be a f***in' war, man. Somebody's going to get knocked out. I hope it ain't me.

Boxinginsider.com: How do you plan to handle the fantastic submission and take-down defense of Chuck Liddell? Will you try standing with him?

Quinton Jackson: I ain't trying to take him down. I ain't trying to submit him. That's not my style. I don't go out there and [try that] shit on people. I don't try to submit people.

Boxinginsider.com: If you get by Chuck, how will you handle Wanderlei Silva?

Quinton Jackson: I'd handle Wanderlei the same way I'd handle Chuck. [I’d] go out there and take it to him. [I’d] do exactly what they expect me not to do.

Boxinginsider.com: How are you approaching this upcoming fight with Chuck? What are you doing in terms of training and preparation?

Quinton Jackson: I'm training the same way I always train -- really hard.

Boxinginsider.com: What do you do as far as your training?

Quinton Jackson: I do everything. I do . . . the three main things most fighters do to make them successful in Mixed Martial Arts.

Boxinginsider.com: Explain how it was determined, to the best of your knowledge, that you would be facing Chuck Liddell in the first round.

Quinton Jackson: Probably, they wanted it to be a little bit easier for Wanderlei. So he would be in the finals, no matter what.

Boxinginsider.com: Do you think Wanderlei Silva's getting an easy ride facing Yoshida?

    Quinton Jackson: Yeah!

Boxinginsider.com: If you fought Yoshida, describe how you would beat him.

Quinton Jackson: I would kick his ass.

Boxinginsider.com: What are your thoughts on Tito Ortiz' last fight?

Quinton Jackson: I thought it was a good fight. It was a good fight for Randy.

Boxinginsider.com: Do you feel slighted that you earned Number One Contender status after beating [Kevin] Randleman but weren't given a championship match with Wanderlei Silva?

Quinton Jackson: Do I feel what?

    Boxinginsider.com: Slighted...

Quinton Jackson: Man, I'm a fighter. You've got to use small words.

Boxinginsider.com: ...that they passed you over?

Quinton Jackson: f*** this shit. This shit kind of pisses me off. When I went on there, I was on Wanderlei. [He] didn't want to fight. If he were to fight me in the night, he would have a hard fight. Wanderlei happened to have an easy fight. He doesn't want to fight me when I'm 100%. He wants to wait for me to go [against] some other tough [fighter] ... But it doesn’t matter if I win or lose the tournament, I've still got to fight him later on.

Boxinginsider.com: I've always wanted to know -- where did you get the necklace?

Quinton Jackson: I got it at the hardware store. Where did you think I got it from?

Boxinginsider.com: I don't know! (Laughs) There are rumors going around that you were interested in going to WWE a few years back. Can you expand on that? Were you ever going to go into wrestling?

Quinton Jackson: Don't listen to rumors, man.

Boxinginsider.com: So you had no interest in professional wrestling at all?

Quinton Jackson: I had no plans of going there. I haven't talked to anybody from there.

Boxinginsider.com: So what are your thoughts on this Pride pay-per-view? Do you think that Chuck Liddell will get a fair shot in the judging if he doesn't win by knockout?

Quinton Jackson: Yeah. I think that they'll give him a fair shot . . . When I fought Bustamante, I thought that would be unanimous against him, but they gave him a split decision. And he's a UFC guy. One judge thought he won. You know what I'm saying? I watched the fight and I didn't think he won any of the rounds. He did better than I expected for him to do. But, shit. Sometimes they're pretty fair. But, you could be right: they f***ed over Ricco Rodriguez. So you could have a point there.

Boxinginsider.com: Explain the differences between fighting in Japan and fighting in the United States.

Quinton Jackson: Shit. First off, more money, fans -- definitely fans understand more about the sport. Japanese fans, they don't care whether you win or lose, they [just care about] how hard you fight.

Boxinginsider.com: What is your prediction for the "Cro Cop"-"Minotauro" Interim Heavyweight Championship Match?

Quinton Jackson: That's going to be a tough fight for Nogueira, I think. But if Nogueira gets him down, he could submit him.

Boxinginsider.com: What are your final thoughts on the upcoming Pride Show? Why should fans buy the pay-per-view?

Quinton Jackson: It's going to be a damn good show! You get to see a damn good tournament -- no matter who wins . . . it's going to be good. Some people are going to get f***ed up, I'll tell you that much. I just pray to God it ain't me. [Do] you know what I'm saying? 'Cause somebody's going to get f***ed up.

Boxinginsider.com: Best of luck to you. I appreciate you doing the interview.
