Heavyweight expert Andrew Golota pulls no punches when he speaks. This week we had the chance to hear some of his uniquely interesting observations on today’s heavyweight landscape.

Read on for what Andrew had to say about who he thinks really won and lost in Rahman-Toney, why Chris Byrd is so effective, what may have happened to Lamon Brewster vs. Sergei Liakhovich, and some inside info on WBA champ Nicolay Valuev:

Boxinginsider: Were you impressed by Klitschko’s win over Chris Byrd?

Andrew Golota: “It was obvious he was going to win. I was surprised it was that easy for him. Byrd came too heavy. He was overweight. What was he thinking - he could stand there and take his punches? He didn’t bob and weave. He didn’t use his boxing skills. He didn’t do anything. That’s why he survived so long in the heavyweight division. He’s actually a middleweight. He survived because he was so quick. I think I would have been able to hurt him and finish him if I didn’t tear my bicep in the seventh round (tore biceps muscle when fist got caught on rope in round 7). Byrd doesn’t have a punch. He can’t hurt nobody. He can just make you look bad. Really bad. He’s good with that. He slips, he counterpunches. But with Klitschko, he came to fight. What the (heck)! He was standing there waiting for the punch. And he got it.”

Boxinginsider: How about Liakhovich and Brewster, were you impressed by Liakhovich?

Andrew Golota: “I was surprised, not impressed. It looked like Brewster wasn’t ready for the fight. He took it too lightly. I think he took him too lightly - another white guy come and f*** him up. After the fight with me he got too much confidence. I gave him big present.”

Boxinginsider: What do you think of Valuev, have you seen him yet?

Andrew Golota: “I haven’t seen him yet. But I heard he’s clumbsy. And he has problem with coordination. That’s why he didn’t play basketball. You know, in Russia, if you’re tall they try you in basketball. He couldn’t play basketball. Can you imagine that? I heard he can’t dribble a basketball. Unbelievable isn’t it?”

Boxinginsider: The other champion is Hasim Rahman, your thoughts on him?

Andrew Golota: “I didn’t see him fight for a long time. I saw him with James Toney. It was surprising again. I thought it was gonna be a non-contest. Toney showed he had big balls. I think Rahman should have done better.”

Boxinginsider: The other two heavyweights to be reckoned with are Samuel Peter and Sultan Ibragimov, have you seen them?

Andrew Golota: “No.”

Boxinginsider: So out of the four heavyweight champions, who do you think is the best one?

Andrew Golota: “No idea. Before he fought Toney, I think Rahman was the best one. But not anymore. Klitschko, so far, looks the best. But he’s been knocked out twice. Knocked out cold twice. And you said the African guy knocked him down three times?”

Boxinginsider: Yeah, well one was a slip and two of the knockdowns were from punches that landed behind the head.

Andrew Golota: “Welcome to the real world. One time Bowe knocked me down, it was all rabbit punches. Illegal punches. But nobody gives a shit. Klitschko was knocked out twice - once from the South African Corrie Sanders, the second one was Brewster ****ed him up. I’ve been stopped by Brewster, so what does that mean? Klitschko looks strong. We’ll see.”
