Undisputed Welterweight king Zab Judah recently sat down for a chat with Boxinginsider.com at Gleason’s Gym:

Boxinginsider.com: 21,000 in St. Louis - all the energy against you, sort of like Ali-Foreman in Africa - were there ever any doubts? How were you able to pull that off?

Zab Judah: “I had not one doubt in my head the whole time. The whole time I knew and was very confident that I was gonna do what I can, what I came to do. And I was prepared and I was very hungry and God made it happen.”

Boxinginsider.com: 21,000 people - did you feel their energy against you?

Zab Judah: “No, never that. Negative energy - I try to block out. So I didn’t pay attention to none of that negative energy.”

Boxinginsider.com: It finally all came together for you there. What did you do differently this fight? How did you make it happen?

Zab Judah: “Hard work, dedication and pray to God, that’s it.”

Boxinginsider.com: Any great advice from anybody?

Zab Judah: “Oh yeah, a lot of great fighters from boxing - Tyson. My father. My mother. My wife. They just said Go get it. We know you could do it. It’s all I needed to hear.”

Boxinginsider.com: What is the greatest moment of your career?

Zab Judah: “The greatest moment of my career is the 9th round of Cory Spinks and Zab Judah part 2.”

Boxinginsider.com: Most painful moment?

Zab Judah: “Oh, probably the Kostya Tszyu fight.”

Boxinginsider.com: How long to get over that one?

Zab Judah: “Oh, not long. Once I figured out that they really retreated me , I figured, Hey f*** it, It’s over.”

Boxinginsider.com: What’s been you worst injury from boxing?

Zab Judah: “I broke my left hand during the Chop Chop Corley fight. 3rd round. And I fought from the 3rd round to the 12th round with one hand.”

Boxinginsider.com: When did you first realize in your head as a kid that you could someday become an undisputed world champion?

Zab Judah: “It never, never really set in my head yet. It just happened. Where I’m from, feeling like this should never happen to people like me [laughs].”

Boxinginsider.com: Did you see Million Dollar Baby? Like it?

Zab Judah: “Yeah, it’s cool.”

Boxinginsider.com: Do you like The Contender?

Zab Judah: “It’s all right. It’s a toughman contest to me. But I wish those guys the best.”

Boxinginsider.com: “Hopkins-Taylor, how do you see it playing out?

Zab Judah: “Bernard Hopkins by knockout. Jermain Taylor, I think he’s too young right now to fight with a fighter that trains like Bernard Hopkins.

Boxinginsider.com: Klitschko vs. Rahman?

Zab Judah: “I pick Rahman by knockout. I think he’s a bigger, stronger fighter. And right now, Rahman just came back since the Lennox Lewis fight and his confidence level is major, his confidence level is a lot. And he’s back proving himself again that he knew what he could do.”

Boxinginsider.com: You’re good friends with both Vivian Harris and Floyd Mayweather. Do you think Vivian could beat Floyd?

Zab Judah: “I think it would be an excellent fight. I can’t really pick sides in that fight because both of ‘em are my friends. But I think it’s a helluva fight. Vivian’s a strong fighter. Floyd’s a fast, quick boxer. It should make an excellent fight.”

Boxinginsider.com: 12 rounds, real close you think?

Zab Judah: “Yeah, 12 rounds real close, pick ‘em. It’s a pick ‘em fight.”

Boxinginsider.com: Tszyu vs. Hatton?

Zab Judah: “I don’t even know. I don’t even care. That’s not my weight class. I wish them the best.”

Boxinginsider.com: Do you think Miguel Cotto is the real deal?

Zab Judah: “No I don’t. In fact I hope that Miguel Cotto gives Vivian Harris a shot.”

Boxinginsider.com: Winky vs. Tito?

Zab Judah: “Ooohh, good fight. Tough fight. Another pick ‘em fight. Good fight. Good, quality match up.”

Boxinginsider.com: Your next opponent Cosme Rivera, know much about him?

Zab Judah: “Yeah.”

Boxinginsider.com: I hear he’s dangerous…

Zab Judah: “Yeah.”
