Boxinginsider.com: Important fight for you on Nov. 13th against Kali Meehan.

Hasim Rahman: I look forward to putting on an awesome display on Nov. 13th. I’m the youngest heavyweight on the card. I have plenty of time to make history. I plan on being successful on Nov. 13th.

Boxinginsider.com: Why do you believe you will beat Meehan?

Hasim Rahman: Well, I just think I’m a better fighter. And not just Meehan, whatever heavyweight you put me in there with, I think I’m gonna win. So it ain’t about Meehan specifically. It’s about Hasim Rahman. That’s why I think I can beat Meehan. Cause I think I can beat anybody. If Meehan can beat me, his skills against my skills, there won’t be no more fighting for me.

Boxinginsider.com: What do you want to accomplish over the next few years in boxing?

Hasim Rahman: I just want to win the title, defend it a couple of times. Then probably get out, let it go.

Boxinginsider.com: Who are you hunting, anyone in particular?

Hasim Rahman: Win against Meehan then against the Ruiz or Golota winner. Try to get into some unification fight. I actually could just lay back and wait for the winner of Ruiz and Golota, I could come to this fight as a fan, watch it, stay busy and fight ol’ anybody and wait my turn as the mandatory. But I choose not to do that. Because I feel like I have a lot to prove. And I want the reporters and everybody to know this is the best Hasim Rahman they’ve ever seen that’s going to show up on Nov. 13th. And I just want to give them a glimpse of the future.

Boxinginsider.com: Who do you see winning Holyfield or Larry Donald?

Hasim Rahman: I pick Larry Donald to win the fight. I think he has the style to beat him. I think it’s a stupid fight for Holyfield.

Boxinginsider.com: Were you surprised to see Roy Jones’ career probably end the way it did? What was your reaction?

Hasim Rahman: I think Roy hurt himself by his little escapade to heavyweight. I think he put on a lot of muscle, he took off a lot of muscle to go back down to light heavyweight. I think he should have stayed at heavyweight. He probably would have had more success. I just think that played a big factor in him losing fights. Because he never was fat at light heavyweight. I think he just lost too much muscle.

Boxinginsider.com: Would he have given you trouble at heavyweight?

Hasim Rahman: I think Roy could give anybody a certain amount of trouble for a certain amount of time. If I catch him with a shot, it would have to be the right shot, I think it would be over. But obviously I think a lot of heavyweights could catch Roy with the right shot, it would be over. But the problem is catching him with that right shot.

Boxinginsider.com: How impressed were you with how Bernard Hopkins has handled the last 4-5 years, the way he’s handled his career, culminating in that monster win over De la hoya?

Hasim Rahman: Obviously I feel like he’s a man, he did it his way. And at the end, he was smarter than a lot of people. Everybody always talked about what he walked away from, but he held his own, he stood firm, he stood his ground and I think he wound up on top. So I gotta take my hat off to him.
