Boxinginsider.com: What’s new in the world of Wladimir? How’s it been going for you? (Note: this interview was done just before Wladimir traveled to Ukraine two weeks ago to help alleviate the Presidential election chaos.)

Wladimir Klitschko: Within last year and a half in the sports life of Wladimir - going not so smoothly like I wish. But I think that these things gonna be changed pretty soon. And I have another life beside the sport and I’m really happy that everything else is just great. I have great family. I do great things with either UNESCO Project or the Education Children in Need - we just raised more than five million hours - for kids in third world countries. Hours. With our partner Kellogg’s. Because we work together with Kellogg’s for this project. And everyone should buy a box of cereal from Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, of the amount we will pay one hour for education for children in third world countries. In one year over five million hours. It’s great thing and it’s really big success. And $260,000 was raised as well for that, in just one year. In my private life I got also my success, everything is fine and I just have to change something in my sports life and have to get to be better. But everything else is just great.

Boxinginsider.com:Your brother’s great win against Corrie Sanders - how impressed were you by that? It was an unbelievably dramatic fight…

Wladimir Klitschko: I am so proud of my brother. He is the champion and he deserves the title -what he was hunting for all the time. He didn’t get it last year with Lennox Lewis but he get it after while with Corrie Sanders. And it was not easy for him. It was very difficult. He got a lot of times injured - he got this and that and he was just focused on everything what he do. And he deserve it. And he’s just a good example to repeat.

Boxinginsider.com: That straight left from Sanders - is that one of the quickest one-punch hand speed examples you’ve ever seen?

Wladimir Klitschko: People are underestimating Corrie Sanders. And I underestimate him also tha time a year and a half ago. And that’s how I lost my title. And his hands are so fast. Really fast. He’s fighting unorthodox. He looks like a…his body is not like a Evander Holyfield body. But that’s why people underestimate him.

Boxinginsider.com: What is it - in your view - that makes your brother the best?

Wladimir Klitschko: It’s difficult. I think he understands how difficult it is. And he understands that a lot of people are hunting for his title. Of course, hunting him, because he’s now on the peak. And he understand it. And he wants to stay on the peak as long as possible.

Boxinginsider.com: You don’t see him losing focus, now that he’s there? Don’t see him losing drive?

Wladimir Klitschko: No, no, no. I can see it in his eyes [smiles].

Boxinginsider.com: Are you satisfied with your performance in your last fight with DaVarryl Williamson? Some of the things you did in there?

Wladimir Klitschko: Williamson was a good fighter and this was not an easy fight. I could have done better and I am absolutely not satisfied with my performance. I know that I have to and will improve. I really wanted the fight with Williamson to continue. I felt I won every round.

Boxinginsider.com: Vitali retired Lennox Lewis - do you believe so?

Wladimir Klitschko: In boxing it is very difficult to stop when you are on the top, to get retired. And I think Lennox Lewis is good example for Evander Holyfield. Lennox Lewis still have open question - who won the last fight? Because he kept the title but I think he lost the fight. But he’s still the champion. I think boxing fans want to see him again fight Vitali. There’s a lot of money there. There is a lot of interest there. There’s a lot of points there - even for his reputation. In boxing there’s a lot of things on the card. But he’s like, No, I’m retired. I think it’s a good example for Holyfield. Because one moment you have to look at a point where the generation is going to be changed.

Boxinginsider.com: Was there anything about Lennox in the ring that surprised Vitali, did he tell you?

Wladimir Klitschko: Of course. Vitali said that he’s the smartest guy that he fought. Very sneaky. Very sneaky. He is sneaky. And I think Lennox Lewis is a great champion. I think even if, in his last fight he lost it, but he kept the title. He deserves to be a great champion.

Boxinginsider.com: How was Lewis sneaky?

Wladimir Klitschko:: Sneaky that something you did not expect fro him. He just maybe show some weakness.

Boxinginsider.com: Faked weakness?

Wladimir Klitschko: Faked weakness, right. And then he just come back with something strong. That’s amazing, yes.

Boxinginsider.com: Are you a sneaky fighter? If not, are you thinking about becoming a sneaky fighter?

Wladimir Klitschko: I don’t know. People on the side can talk about me. I can’t talk about myself [smiles].

Boxinginsider.com: Your thoughts as Vitali defends his title for the first time against Danny Williams?

Wladimir Klitschko: Vitali is the man right now. And he will be, as long as he wants to do it.

Boxinginsider.com: Kostya Tszyu - how impressed were you by that spectacular KO of Sharmba Mitchell?

Wladimir Klitschko: Unbelievable. I thought that Kostya Tszyu can’t do anything else - he’s like one-and-half-year break and he’s going to be older. But it was a great performance. I think nobody expect it.

Boxinginsider.com: Bernard Hopkins - amazing career topped off by that KO of De La Hoya. Do you study the career of Hopkins?

Wladimir Klitschko: Yes, of course. I think that Bernard Hopkins is something unusual. And he get so much success, especially after the De La Hoya fight. And he’s really on the top of everything. And he really show that if you’re focused, focused…and you want to set a goal, you’ll get it. It doesn’t matter how difficult it is. And you are as good as your last performance. That’s what it is in boxing.

Boxinginsider.com: What makes him so good as a fighter? He’s 39 and he’s the best in the world…

Wladimir Klitschko: Yes, that’s unbelievable. He’s ancient. He did it. I think the will to survive. Because in boxing you have to survive. You have to keep winning. Otherwise you’re out. But he’s focused on…that’s what he wants to do. He want to get his boxing life.”
