Andrew Golota spoke with Boxinginsider about the highly-controversial WBA Heavyweight title fight with John Ruiz:

Boxinginsider.com: Andrew do you still believe you won the fight?

Andrew Golota: “Sh**. I was thinking about it all over again. I won the fight.”

Boxinginsider.com: Did anything about Ruiz surprise you?

Andrew Golota: “There was nothing surprising. Nothing surprised me. I thought he was better.”

Boxinginsider.com: What do you have to say about the criticism that you didn’t do enough at the end of the fight?

Andrew Golota: “I think I should have stayed more active in the late rounds. Instead of taking it easy. I should have tried more to put him down again. Knock him out. I made a mistake, I was too nice, too polite.”

Boxinginsider.com: Were you tiring in the late rounds?

Andrew Golota: “No. After the fight last time (Byrd) I couldn’t stand still, I couldn’t catch my breath. After this fight I feel great, I could go three or four more rounds.”

Boxinginsider.com: What has been the feedback you have received from fans, media, etc. after this fight most people believe you won?

Andrew Golota: “Everybody who has pulled me aside said, You were robbed. Everybody. Except those three unknown judges.”

Boxinginsider.com: Has there been any word that Ruiz will give you a rematch?

Andrew Golota: “Not really. In the (post-fight) press conference the (Ruiz) lawyer (Tony Cardinale) said they were ready for anybody else, Klitschko, so I don’t know.”
