Miami-based Colombian junior middleweight Joel Julio will meet WBO champ Sergiy Dzinziruk in an interesting clash which will take place on November 1st in Oberhausen, Germany. Both contestants sport excellent records - 23-year-old Julio is 34-1 (31 KO’s) while the champion Dzinziruk, from Ukraine, is a perfect 35-0 (22 KO’s).

When asked about the match-up, Julio’s manager Tuto Zabala said, “I have about six fights of Dzinziruk (on video), he is a straight up southpaw with a good jab. I think we could knock him out. Joel is much more comfortable at 154.”

Dzinziruk won the WBO title in 2005 from Daniel Santos, who recently captured the WBA title in Canada from Joachim Alcine. Dzinziruk has made three successful title defense against Alisultan Nadirbegov (W 12), Carlos Nascimento (KO 11) and the most recent was in April of this year against Lucas Konecny (W 12).

Dzinziruk-Julio purse bids were agreed upon in Puerto Rico two weeks ago. It will be Julio’s second pro fight in Europe, he previously boxed an early pro bout in Spain.

Unfortunately this bout won’t be televised in the United States.
