The main event was preceded by an exciting undercard, but the arena did not reach filled capacity until after the end of the Mares vs. De Leon fight. Since Golden Boy televised three fights the proceedings for the main event began almost immediately after the last fight.
The Mexican national anthem was sung first, followed by Kelly Rowland singing the United States National Anthem.
Robert Guerrero (31-1-1) was the first person to enter the ring and Floyd Mayweather Jr. (43-0) was the second person to walk into the ring. Floyd had the vocals of Lil Wayne supporting him as he slowly walked into the ring.
Jimmy Lennon Jr. did the ring introductions. Robert Guerrero’s father and Floyd Mayweather Sr. were jawing at each other as the referee read his pre-fight instructions.
Round by round results follow below:
Rd 1: Guerrero takes the center of the ring and ducks under an early lunging jab from Floyd Mayweather. They tied up near the center of the ring and Guerrero lands a couple of short left hands. Mayweather connects with a straight right hand. Mayweather lands another lead right hand and Guerrero connects with a few short left hooks. Mayweather is more offensive than usual so far. Mayweather easily avoids the punches of Mayweather. Guerrero lands a decent body punch that gets the crowd excited. Mayweather connects with a quick jab. Mayweather connects with another lead right hand. Guerrero backs Mayweather up with a counter. Guerrero ducks under a lead Mayweather right. Guerrero lands two counter punches to the body after Floyd throws a lead right hand. 10-9 Mayweather.
Rd 2: Guerrero throws an early jab to the body of Mayweather. Mayweather is backing up to the corner. Guerrero lands a lead straight left hand and Floyd immediately clinches. Guerrero counters with another good body shot after a lead straight right hand by Mayweather. Guerrero barley misses with a wide left hook and two more straight left hands. Mayweather lands a lead right hand and Guerrero counters with a right hand of his own. Mayweather lands two straight jabs to the face of Guerrero. Mayweather connects with a quick lead right hand. Guerrero connects with a straight right to the body and a quick jab. Mayweather connects with another straight right hand and moves out of the way of a straight left from Guerrero. Rd 3: Mayweather is again trying to bait Guerrero forward. Mayweather landed a very hard lead right hand. Mayweather nimbly moves out of the way of Guerrero’s straight left hands. Mayweather flicks out a quick check left hook. Mayweather lands two more quick jabs. Mayweather lands another straight right hand. Guerrero lands a lead right hook. Mayweather tags Guerrero with another straight right hand to his face. Mayweather lands a thudding lead right hook. Mayweather picks Guerrero apart with another lead right hand. Rd 4: Floyd is showing good movement and easily avoids the jabs of Guerrero. Guerrero lands a counter left hook, but Mayweather answers with a powerful straight right hand. Guerrero barely misses with a lead left hand. Mayweather has Guerrero almost perfectly timed. Mayweather lands another lead right hand. Guerrero lands a few hooks to the body of Mayweather. Mayweather dodges out of the way of another two punch combo and pop shots Guerrero with a straight right hand. 10-9 Mayweather. (40-36)
Rd 5: Mayweather certainly does not look flat footed. Guerrero connects with a lead straight left followed by a combination to the body. Guerrero lands a straight left hand. Mayweather rocks Guerrero with a right hand. Guerrero tries to rough Mayweather up inside but Mayweather is able to continue to remain elusive. Guerrero landed a good left hand to body of Mayweather. Guerrero chases Mayweather towards the corner. Mayweather pops Guerrero with two more lead right hands. Floyd lands a very good right hook to the body and follows it up with a right hook upstairs. Mayweather is in complete control of this fight. 10-9 Mayweather. (50-45)
Rd 6: Guerrero misses with a jab to the body and head. Mayweather easily ducks under a wide right hook from Guerrero. Guerrero connects with a short right, but after missing two punches. Guerrero does some decent punches to the body of Mayweather. Floyd connects with two straight right hands. Guerrero lands a jab and Mayweather answers with two powerful sweeping right hooks. Guerrero connects with a combination to the body. Mayweather picks Guerrero apart with another jab. Mayweather tags Guerrero with a straight right hand. 10-9 Mayweather. (60-54)
Rd 7: Mayweather circles away from Guerrero. Floyd easily slips a jab from Guerrero. Floyd lands a solid leadstraight right hand. Guerrero connects with two more punches to the body of Mayweather. Mayweather lands another lead right hand. Mayweather easily blocks a lead cross from Guerrero. Guerrero misses with a wild left hook. Guerrero digs at the body of Guerrero inside. Guerrero barely misses with a lead left hook. Guerrero tries to tie up and land shots to the body of Mayweather. Mayweather connects with a right uppercut to Guerrero’s chin. Better round for Guerrero in comparison to previous rounds, 10-9 Guerrero. (69-64)
Rd 8: Floyd has been making this look easy. Guerrero misses with a lead left cross. Mayweather lands another straight right hand. Mayweather connects with a lead right cross left hook combination. Guerrero has a cut from a punch by Mayweather. Mayweather landed a hard straight right hand. Mayweather does not look afraid of Guerrero’s power. Mayweather is just picking Guerrero apart with straight right hands. Mayweather connects with a lead left uppercut. Maywetaher connects with a power right uppercut. Mayweather sticks a right hand in the stomach of Guerrero. Mayweather continues to pick Guerrero apart. Mayweather sticks two more crosses to the body of Guerrero and follows it with a vicious right hook. Mayweather lands another right hook and right cross to the body. 10-9 Mayweather, possibly 10-8. Rd 9: Guerrero has a cut right over his left eye. Guerrero paws a jab at the body of Mayweather. Guerrero traps Mayweather by the corner and digs at Mayweather’s body. Guerrero lands a lead left hand to Mayweather’s chin. Mayweather puts a front headlock on Guerrero when he tries to get in close. Guerrero lands two punches to the body of Mayweather, and Mayweather lands a good right uppercut. Guerrero is unable to land a clean punch on Mayweather. Mayweather staggers Guerrero with a straight right hand. Floyd lands a check left hook. Guerrero lands a few more punches to the body of Mayweather. 10-9 Mayweather. (89-82)
Rd 10: Guerrero had a decent ninth round, but Mayweather was able to avoid most of Guerrero’s aggression. Guerrero has Mayweather trapped near a corner but is unable to solve the defense of Mayweather. Mayweather connects with a short counter right uppercut and moves out of the way. Mayweather connects with a left hook in the center of the ring. Guerrero lumps a left uppercut to the body of Mayweather. Mayweather lands a borderline punch near the beltline of Guerrero. Floyd connects with another lead right hand. Mayweather sticks two straight jabs in the nose of Guerrero. Mayweather connects with a looping right hook. 10-9 Mayweather. (99-91)
Rd 11: Mayweather is comfortably ahead. Mayweather is showing good lateral movement and connects with four quick jabs. Mayweather hits Guerrero with another check left hook. Guerrero is trying to work the body of Mayweather, but it hasn’t worked so far. Guerrero continues, unsuccessfully, to rough Guerrero up. Mayweather tees off on Guerrero with wide hooks. Mayweather blitzes Guerrero with quick right hands. Mayweather lands two looping right hands and a quick left hook. Mayweather connects with another two punch combination. 10-9 Mayweather.(109-100)
Rd 12: Guerrero clearly needs a knockout to win. Mayweather is staying light on his feet and is moving away from Guerrero. Mayweather clinches with Guerrero up close and is staying light on his feet. Mayweather lands with two lead right hooks. Some in the crowd begin to boo the action in the ring. Mayweather tags Guerrero with another lead right hand. Mayweather ties up with Guerrero after Guerrero throws a combination to his body. Mayweather was not in danger for a single minute tonight. 10-9 Mayweather. (119-109).
