A Solution To The Pacquiao-Hatton Purse Split Snag

January 12th, 2009

By Scoop Malinowski

Reports are saying that the Pacquiao-Hatton Superfight is in jeopardy because both sides are unable to agree on a mutally-acceptable purse split. Hatton apparently wants an even, down the middle 50-50 split while Team Pacquiao is said to be demanding 60-40.

Reminscent of the botched Hopkins-Jones II negotiations where Jones wanted 60-40 and Hopkins wanted 50-50, the Pacquiao and Hatton teams might consider this option to avoid the unfortunate failure which doomed the public from seeing the Hopkins vs. Jones rematch: Winner-take-all is obviously not going to happen, so how about a split at 33% for each and the winner gets the remaining 33%?

Just an alternative idea to toss into the ring to help make Pacquiao vs. Hatton a reality…
