Run Floyd Run: Team Mayweather Is Stonewalling and Ducking Manny Pacquiao Again

Whenever Manny Pacquiao’s representatives earnestly take actions to produce the biggest fight in boxing history with Floyd Mayweather, they keep running into the same wall. Once again Floyd Mayweather is blocking, stonewalling and ducking the opportunity to negotiate a fight with Manny Pacquiao.
Mayweather’s media relations mouthpiece Ben Thompson of Fighthype.com did his best to shoot down the earnest attempts of Pacquiao advisor Michael Koncz to make a deal with Mayweather. Koncz has been meeting with Mayweather for several days in Las Vegas.
Writes Thompson at his site: Koncz “gives false hope to the fans who still believe that Pacquiao and Mayweather will finally face each other inside the ring.”
Wait a second. It’s only “false hope” if one side wants the fight and the other side (Mayweather) is only pretending to want the fight.
Thompson also wrote: “The only people who do have the authority to finalize a deal with Floyd Mayweather are not actively involved in discussion.”
Well, Koncz is trying to get the ball rolling. Al Haymon and Bob Arum will show up if Floyd calls for it.
More from Thompson: “Bob Arum has yet to make any kind of effort to communicate with Mayweather or his go to guy Al Haymon.”
That’s a lie. Sending Koncz to confront Floyd Mayweather in order to get the ball rolling, is a first step attempt. But it’s a two way street. If Mayweather truly and sincerely wanted the fight like he tweeted last week, why won’t Floyd send his go to guy Haymon to call or confront Arum or Koncz?
Thompson: “Unfortunately for the fans, the fact remains there are no real negotiations taking place.”
That is true and the full blame is on Mayweather. Arum and Koncz are clearly trying to negotiate, but Haymon and Mayweather are stonewalling and blocking those attempts. And remember this, it wasn’t Team Pacquiao who faked negotiations with HBO’s Ross Greenburg, nor was it Team Pacquiao that fake retired as an escape from making the “Fight of the Century” because Manny suddenly lost the urge to fight and wanted to spend more time with his family and working with kids at his gym.
Those were just two of many of Floyd’s most absurd excuses to duck and block and cancel the biggest fight in boxing history from being made. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted on Floyd Mayweather’s latest and lamest excuses to duck and dodge Manny Pacquiao.
