Oscar vs. Pac…Who is the better singer?
By Scoop Malinowski

Since very few boxing fans care to see who is the superior boxer between Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao, the meaningless circus exhibition that is in pre-discussion, we have a better idea which makes more sense and could generate many more dollars.

How about an HBO-televised sing-off contest? Both Pac and the Golden Boy are recording artists and this competition, which could be based loosely on the Star Search format, could rake in a lot of money and Nielsen ratings, a la American Idol and the old Gong Show. Ed McMahon could be brought in to emcee, and maybe even Simon Cowell and Britney Spears could be hired as celebrity judges. Former vocalists Larry Holmes and Mike Tyson could provide warm-up entertainment. You could even include Floyd Mayweather as a clown, trying to beg and trash talk his way into a sing-off against the winner, on the next big show.

Oscar could sing “Baillamos,” Pac Man could croon, “You Lost That Loving Feeling.” You get the idea. This has a lot of entertainment potential. At least a lot more than a sparring session billed and sold as “Championship Boxing” which so far is not generating much excitement or buzz from boxing fans or the boxing media.
