Early Boxing Memory: “My first title, German champion in ’95 when I was 16. We had three fights to the final. In the first fight I fight a former champion. I was very nervous but I beat him 18-1 on points.”
Greatest Sports Moment: “When I win the world title (d. Velazco in 2003, d. Masoe in 2006). And when my manager told me I have the chance to fight against Oscar De La Hoya.”
Most Painful Moment: “Olympic Games 2000. I lost quarterfinal to Jermain Taylor. Decision. I lost by three or four points.”
Pre-Fight Feeling: “I think nothing. I’m just relaxed, I’m cool. I love to fight. This is the greatest thing in my life. I always want to fight.”
